The “Jennifer Lawrence Effect”

jenn L2

Academy award-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence (25) has taken Hollywood, and the world, by storm! However, it is not just her amazing acting skills (as displayed in films such as Silver Linings Playbook, The Hunger Games, X-Men series, and American Hustle, just to name a few) that make everyone mesmerized by her.

Lawrence portrays an extremely confident and positive body image, despite being body-shamed in the media. According to an interview with Lawrence in the Harper’s Bazaar UK, Lawrence stated, “Somebody told me I was fat, that I was going to get fired if I didn’t lose a certain amount of weight. They brought in pictures of me where I was basically naked and told me to use them as motivation for my diet. It was just that.” However, Lawrence did not get fired, and instead is one of the most famous and powerful women in Hollywood. She is also an inspiration and role-model for all women, a reminder to feel comfortable in our own skin, and to go after your goals despite what others may say.

Jennifer Lawrence is also extremely outspoken. Where some may find her to be annoying, most are envious of her boisterous personality in an industry where a lot of women are told to stand quiet and look pretty. Lawrence has caught some flack for her lack of a “filter,” being called “too crass” and “annoying” by fellow actress Chloe Sevigny during an interview for US Weekly. However, many people find Jennifer Lawrence refreshing, down-to-earth, and endearing. Be sure to participate in the poll below to weigh in on the “Jennifer Lawrence Effect” that is taking the world by storm!
